Donations In Kind.

Disaster Aid was recently given obsolete and out of date goods, that could be used overseas by countries suffering from Disasters.

In order to ship these goods, an accurate inventory must be provided, and the goods must be of use and required by the overseas organisations.

This provided Disaster Aid organisers with a monumental problem, as the goods were palletised and shrink wrapped with minimal descriptions of what was contained. (One pallet contained small pillows suitable for airlines, whilst another pallet contained an ultrasound instrument.)

The Rotary club of Endeavour Hills, hired an empty factory and broke down each pallet of goods by hand, itemised everything, one Sunday in November, and repacked it all for possible shipment to the Philippines. All out of date medication had to be disposed, but stretchers, tents, and other equipment of use was made available for shipment. At the time of writing, advice was still waiting for what items would be shipped and where to.

Another “hands on” project carried out by the club.

(Not all hard work as the last few pics show some of our members enjoying a sausage for lunch.)
